Dear Fell Families,
Tomorrow is the BIG DAY for our students in grades 1–8, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them back! We have been busy getting everything ready, and our staff is looking forward to seeing our students back in the building.
You may have seen in the updated Student/ Family Handbook that fabric backpacks are now permissible for students to bring to school. Please know that all newly enrolled students will still receive a free, clear Fell Charter backpack on their first day of school, and anyone else who would like one need only make the request. Returning families, please let Mrs. Monforte know if you would like a clear backpack for your child.
Over the summer, we did have some staffing updates, and I hope you’ll help me give a warm Fell welcome to:
Miss Williams, our new first grade teacher
Mrs. Stoia, our new fifth grade teacher
Mr. Scanlon, our new eighth grade/Middle School ELA teacher
Mr. Jonkman, our new music teacher
Ms. Gunshannon, our new Curriculum Coordinator
You will also notice that Mrs. Norton is now teaching our Kindergarten class.
We have put together a wonderful team, and I am truly excited about the updates, new programming, and opportunities this school year will bring. I know that changes like these can sometimes cause a little anxiety, but I want you to know that we are committed to making this a great year for every student. We will all do whatever it takes to help your child feel safe, supported, challenged, and successful at Fell.
Most importantly, we are ready to get back to what we love most—our students! I can’t wait to see their smiling faces tomorrow and to begin what I know is going to be a fantastic school year.
Reminders:
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
- Bus/ Van information has been sent out by the districts. We understand that there is some concern about the Carbondale routes. Please know that we are doing everything that we can to work with the district toward a resolution. I will keep you posted.
Student drop-off is between 7:15 and 7:40 AM. Instruction begins promptly at 7:45 AM.
Dismissal will begin at 3:10 PM. Vans and the Carbondale Bus will load first, and car-riders will be dismissed afterward. Cars will need to line up BEHIND the cones in order to leave room for the bus to get through. It would be helpful for the first weeks of school for car-riders to print your child’s last name on a piece of paper and display it on your windshield.
