School Principal

Job Overview

  • Job Title: K-8 School Principal-PA

  • Reports To: School Board

  • Classification: Full-time, Exempt, 12-Month Contract

  • Location: On-site

Essential Responsibilities

1. Instructional & Academic Leadership

  • Curriculum Design: Oversee the implementation of a rigorous, data-driven K-8 curriculum aligned with state standards and the specific school charter.

  • Teacher Coaching: Conduct frequent classroom observations and provide actionable, high-leverage feedback to support educator growth.

  • Data-Driven Instruction: Analyze student achievement data (standardized tests, interim assessments) to adjust teaching strategies and close learning gaps.

  • Diverse Learners: Partner with the Special Education team to ensure accommodations, IEP modifications, and ELL requirements are strictly met.

2. School Culture & Student Discipline

  • Inclusive Climate: Foster a joyful, safe, and inclusive school culture that promotes high expectations for both elementary and middle school students.

  • Behavior Management: Establish and enforce a fair, consistent student discipline policy rooted in restorative justice and positive behavior interventions.

  • Holistic Development: Support the implementation of social-emotional learning competencies throughout the daily school schedule.

3. Operations, Compliance & Governance

  • Charter Accountability: Manage compliance, charter renewal documentation, annual reporting, and strict adherence to state charter law.

  • Budgetary Oversight: Develop and manage the annual operating budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and long-term financial sustainability.

  • Board Liaison: Attend all board meetings, providing transparent updates on student performance, enrollment metrics, and operational health.

  • Personnel Management: Oversee the recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and retention of all highly qualified instructional and non-instructional staff.

4. Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Family Partnerships: Maintain open-door communication with families, promptly addressing concerns and involving them in school life.

  • Community Relations: Serve as the visible face of the school to attract prospective families, boost student enrollment, and forge community partnerships.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution preferred.

  • Licensure: Valid Pennsylvania Administrator / Principal Certification (or eligibility for immediate certification).

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful K-8 classroom teaching experience.

  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years as an Assistant Principal, Dean, Instructional Coach, Department Chair, or equivalent school leadership role preferred.

  • Bridges K-5 and 6-8: Proven ability to balance the distinct developmental, academic, and social needs of both primary and middle-school age groups.

  • Communication: Exceptional tactical and empathetic communication skills across diverse audiences, including students, faculty, and board members.

Position Title: 6th-8th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher

Location: Fell Charter School, Simpson, Pennsylvania

Reports To: School Principal 

Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, mission-driven 6th-8th Grade ELA Teacher to join our public charter school community. In this role, you will prepare students for high school by delivering rigorous, standards-aligned literacy instruction. You will foster critical thinking, advanced reading comprehension, and analytical writing in a supportive, high-expectations environment. As a charter school educator, you will have the autonomy to innovate while collaborating closely with a tight-knit staff to close achievement gaps.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Teach core literacy concepts including text analysis, argumentative and narrative writing, grammar, and academic vocabulary.
  • Curriculum Alignment: Design and execute daily lesson plans aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards for ELA and school-wide benchmarks.
  • Data-Driven Instruction: Analyze qualitative and quantitative student performance data to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including IEP, 504, and EL students.
  • Assessment & Tracking: Administer formative and summative assessments, providing timely, constructive feedback to monitor growth toward Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) targets.
  • Classroom Culture: Maintain a safe, inclusive, and highly organized environment using proactive classroom management and Restorative Practices / Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks.
  • Family Engagement: Partner with families through frequent, transparent communication regarding student academic progress and behavioral milestones.
  • Professional Collaboration: Participate actively in grade-level team meetings, professional development (PD) sessions, and school-wide events.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate 
  • Clearances: Up-to-date Pennsylvania mandated background checks prior to start date:
    • PA State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34)
    • PA Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
    • FBI Fingerprint License Check
    • Mandated Reporter Training (Act 126)

      Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in a public school setting.
  • Proven track record of moving student achievement data in middle school reading and writing.
  • Familiarity with local state testing frameworks and remediation strategies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to navigate classroom and school spaces dynamically (standing, walking, sitting for extended intervals).
  • Ability to project voice clearly and use classroom interactive technology tools.

Job Title: K-8 Classroom Teacher

Position Summary

Responsible for instructing students and creating relevant learning experiences in a supportive K-8 environment. The educator will demonstrate use of the school’s curriculum and innovative teaching methods to maximize academic achievement for all students in a safe and respectful climate.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and the school’s mission.

  • Assessment: Use qualitative and quantitative data to monitor student progress, inform instructional decisions, and provide timely, actionable feedback.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain an organized learning atmosphere using positive behavior interventions and social-emotional learning strategies.

  • Collaboration: Work with grade-level peers, special education staff, and administrators to refine curriculum and support students with disabilities.

  • Communication: Maintain frequent, professional communication with families through conferences and progress reports.

  • Professional Conduct: Comply with the PA Code of Professional Conduct for Educators and participate in mandatory professional development/induction programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university.

  • Certification: Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Certificate

  • Clearances: Current Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 151 (Child Abuse), and Act 114 (FBI Fingerprinting) clearances.

  • Ethics: Must meet mandatory reporting duties for suspected child abuse and educator misconduct.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with technology integration (e.g., Google Classroom, iReady, Excel, etc).

  • Demonstrated ability to work in diverse settings and a commitment to cultural competence.

Position Title: School Custodian

Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Reports To: Principal 

Location: Pennsylvania K-8 Charter School Campus

Position Summary

The School Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and sanitized learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to child safety in a K-8 school setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Sanitize classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and offices.

  • Mop, sweep, scrub, and vacuum all types of flooring.

  • Empty and wash trash and recycling bins.

  • Restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper daily.

  • Disinfect high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, water fountains, and railings.

Maintenance & Grounds Operations

  • Perform minor repairs like changing lightbulbs and unclogging drains.

  • Clear snow, ice, and debris from walkways and apply salt.

  • Set up furniture and equipment for assemblies, lunches, and special school events.

  • Report structural damages or major repair needs to management immediately.

  • Monitor and log custodial supply inventory levels.

Requirements and Qualifications

State-Mandated Clearances & Compliance

Applicants must provide valid, updated credentials required by Pennsylvania School Law:

  • PA State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34).

  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151).

  • FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance (Act 114).

  • Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form (Act 24).

  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168).

Physical Demands

  • Lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds independently.

  • Stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders throughout an 8-hour shift.

  • Handle and mix commercial cleaning chemicals safely according to MSDS guidelines.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience: High school diploma preferred; previous commercial cleaning or school experience is a plus.

  • Communication: Ability to read chemical labels and instructions in English.

  • Interpersonal: Professional, patient demeanor appropriate for an environment filled with young children.

Volunteers

Parent/guardian involvement is not just a wonderful addition to a successful school, it is essential. At Fell Charter School, it is also a requirement of all parents/guardians. There are always opportunities for volunteers to help out, be it during lunch periods, Warrior Nights, or over the summer.

All Parents/Guardians are required to volunteer their time for two (2) hours a month. Volunteer programs benefit our school community, and enforce great parent/student and parent/school involvement.

Field Trips

Any Parent/Guardian who attends a field trip as a chaperone must have his/her two clearances and finger prints on file at the school, 24 hours prior to the field trip.

No one will be permitted to attend a field trip without proper clearances; attendance at the pre-field trip meeting is mandatory.

Background Clearance Checks

Per PA law (Act 151, 34), all volunteers must obtain a PA Child Abuse Background Check and a PA Criminal Background Check.

These clearances will be valid at the school for two years from the date of issue, and can be obtained using the links on this page.
