Dear Parents/Guardians,
As temperatures drop, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the cold weather to stay comfortable and safe during the school day. Children are less effective at regulating body temperature than adults, so erring on the side of extra warmth is usually better.
Here are some general recommendations:
- Below 50°F: Long pants, long sleeves and layers are encouraged.
- Below 40°F: Add coats, hats, and gloves for extra warmth.
- Below freezing: Insulated winter coats/jackets, hats and gloves and weather-appropriate footwear.
- High Wind can make even warm temperatures feel uncomfortable and become unsafe. Adding a windbreaker or extra layer is recommended.
Dressing in layers is always a good choice to accommodate varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Nurse Bonnie
